In 1998 Bob Lee felt compelled to redirect his life to giving back to the community. He identified ways to use his passions and abilities to help those in need. With a love for cycling and engaging people, Lee realized a solo bike ride that combined fundraising and awareness-building efforts would be an ideal vehicle to achieve his goals. In 2001, Lee organized a cross-
country RIDE to benefit ALS research and hospice programs. The first RIDE was more than 3,200 miles from San Diego, California to St. Augustine, Florida. In 2007, in celebration of his 65th birthday, Lee completed a second RIDE up the east coast and along across the northern border of the United States. With an endless amount of energy and good will, Lee embarked on the Ride for 3 Reasons: Part III in September 2012. For Lee, the RIDE is rewarding because it gives him the opportunity to engage many people, enjoy beautiful surroundings throughout the country, cycle and pay it forward. He lives outside of Chicago in Barrington, Illinois with Anne, his wife of 47 years. They have two children and six grandchildren.

Congratulations Bob,
Stop by to say congratulation on your 3rd ride. Bob you needed a big heart to pump the blood to your legs while cycling up and down the hills. You have a bigger heart when it comes to helping people in need. All the money you have raised to help the American Cancer Society (ACS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) & Hospice. There’s not a family around that’s not been touch by one of the three reasons you rode your heart out for. I’ve been touched more than a few times by cancer in my family. And hospice has help two of my family members. I lost three family members with cancer. My dad was taken away in 1984 at 72 by cancer. Thanks to hospice my mom was able to die at home. That’s what she wanted. If we had more people like you one day we would only be talking about the days of cancer and ACS. They would have been cured. I thank you so much Bob.
You’re Friend,
J.C.
